This first book is a synopsis of losing, grieving and learning to cope with the loss of my husband. Using prose, poetry and journaling, I want this volume to assist people in processing the shock and emotional upheaval of loss, it is for someone who has lost a loved one or for anyone anticipating loss. In particular I think of hospice caregivers, family, friends, and grief support groups.
Death is an unnatural assault. God never intended for anyone to die. However we live in a world under attack and although it’s not at all fair we all face death. Through this book, we can experience the comfort of God’s love and the testimony that even a founded Christian will have doubts in faith and struggle with ‘Why’.
A second book is currently being worked on, a fictional novel about a person struggling with differences of self, others, and nationality. The title is ‘Not Her, Just Myself’. Available soon.

Kathy Garrett
Kathy Garrett is a retired nurse after 43 years who has loved being a nurse and caring for people. She believes that the best thing about being a nurse is going into a dark and painful situation and making it a little bit easier, offering some calm, hope and relief to the sufferer and their family. As nurses we cannot heal, but we can offer a balm for the pain of suffering.
When her husband passed away she was surprised by the effect on her. She mistakenly thought that she would be prepared, as he had been declining for a long time. “He and I had discussed this and made our decisions. I also believed as a Christian that I knew all the answers. I did not!” The book is written by a Christian woman who learns the pain of grief, and goes through the dark depression and loss of losing a partner of 43 years. “I want the book to reach out and be a blessing to those who suffer terrible loss and experience anger, depression, loss of self.”
Kathy has two adult children, 5 grandchildren, and family around her that are her greatest blessing. She is so grateful for the presence of their love, and as a retired individual she turned to writing as a healing process for not only her pain, but also her faith.
Of greatest importance is the consolation of the Lord’s word, Presence and Recreating Power. I pray this little volume is a balm in the pain, a light forward.
